Business Processes: What, Why, and How to Document


Description: 

Organizations are continually faced with the challenge of understanding how the work of multiple departments come together to create a result of value to a customer.  This is a hands-on workshop for participants to learn the basics of business processes and how to document them by applying models and tools to their own work process.

Participants will:

  • Define a business process
  • Identify business process types and characteristics
  • Apply the input-process-output process model to your work
  • Define the role of a process owner
  • Identify the benefits and pitfalls of documenting processes
  • Create a basic and cross-functional flow chart
  • Draft process work instructions
  • Identify documentation problem areas and determine next steps
